Welcome

Electronic check payments are changing the way payments are made, allowing consumers greater convenience and security. Here you can get the facts on Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions. ACH transactions, or electronic funds transfers (EFTs), can save the average family over $85.00 per year in postage alone.

ACH/EFT Payment is commonly called Automated Payment, Check Debit, E-Checks, Electronic Debit, Direct Payment, or Pre-Authorized Payment. ACH/EFT Payments can be used for recurring payments, non-recurring payments (checks by telephone or fax, online checks, point-of-sale check conversion), or credits (Direct Deposit). Additionally, ACH/EFT is used for electronic bill presentment, electronic benefits transfers, and RCK check recovery.

What People Are Saying About ACH/EFT Payment!

Consumers

"I use Direct Payment for as many things as I possibly can. I utilize a credit card which I pay off every month, and my goal is to write one check each month and have everything else electronically debited from my account. The reason I do this is simple - I'm a miser. And (without Direct Payment), you're paying for checks, you're buying envelopes, you're putting stamps on them, you're taking the time that it takes to go to the mailbox. If you have a busy schedule, that can be very annoying."
- Major Tracy Hunt, Homestead, Fla.

"I would not be able to manage all my allotments or all my payments without the money automatically being paid to who I have to pay it to. It gives you a very good idea of how much money you have to play with and how much you need to save."
- Maynard "Max" Mendoza, Homestead, Fla.

"I have several payments that come directly out of my account which helps. My car payment comes directly out of my account, I have several credit cards, my phone bill, my cell phone bill, all those come directly out of my account as well as payments into a mutual fund. That makes life just wonderful because I'm really bad about getting tied up and forgetting to pay bills."
- Karen O'Shaughnessy, Homestead, Fla.

"I have two 5-year-old twins and a 6-year-old, and a full-time job. I don't have time to sit down and pay bills or stand in bank lines. That's why I use Direct Payment for as many bills as I can and use Direct Deposit for my paycheck. It's a huge time-saver."
- Sandy Lesko Mounts, Westlake, Ohio

The Media

"Use Direct Deposit and Payment. The less you handle your money, the less you'll waste. Have your pay put directly into your checking account. Then set up monthly deductions to move cash to mutual fund or brokerage accounts for automatic investments. Automatic payments can also be used for mortgage payments or other regular bills."
- Jeff Brown, Syndicated Column, 1/99
